Studio Orta

"Seed Bank" is a collection of watercolour drawings depicting seeds, pollen, and tubers, which Lucy + Jorge Orta have meticulously enlarged to reveal their intricate beauty and diversity. The act of drawing is a way of documenting the natural environment and reminding viewers of its intrinsic value to our well-being. Having taken part in several scientific expeditions, the artists have observed first-hand the interdependancy of species which is under threat due to human intervention. The works on paper draw attention to the necessity of preserving seed variety, faced with the degradation of planetry biodiversity.
