In the work of Lucy + Jorge Orta, windows and vitrines are focal points drawing our attention to a specific subject or issue. They usually find a photographic reference and a series of metaphorical objects inside or suspended from the structures. Inside this vitrine, a photograph taken during the artists' 2009 expedition to the Peruvian Amazon is enlarged and fragmented. The pierced water gourds, containers, floats, and the glass bottles come from the water purification projects at the Venice Biennale in 2005 and the Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen Rotterdam in 2006, making reference to the artists' longstanding research focus on the subject of water scarcity.
