The Raft of the Medusa is an immersive three-channel audio-video installation first commissioned by Yorkshire Sculpture Park in 2013. Inspired by the romantic depiction of the shipwreck Le Radeau de la Méduse (1818-1819, Théodore Géricault), the work is a symbol of man’s fragility, helplessness and hope, evoking the fateful journeys of slaves and migrants throughout history.
