Harewood House, Leeds, UK
Seeds are hand-blown Murano glass pods, husks, kernels, flowering heads and pollens based on real and imaginary specimens that have been magnified to illuminate their beauty and provide a metaphor for community regeneration, growth and resilience. The exhibition ‘Seeds’ is presented in the Old Kitchen and Pastry Room, spaces that reflect the historic food related activities of the 18th century Harewood House. It follows the 45th activation of 70 x 7 The Meal, co-created with communities of Leeds to foreground the political and ecological aspects of food as well as an agent of community which can carry the potential of positive change.
